The Documented Life Project: 2014

In my constant search for happy positive and creative things to occupy my mind , I have started the Documented Life Project, please see their webpage as well as  my blogpost for more information!

This project is just what I need,
I have found myself increasingly so wound up and stressed from the day job and other stress, that I have forgotten how to have fun. This project has come at the right time for me.

I will post my journal pages here: whether  they are artistic or really look awful, I will post them here!  Art journalling is about the process as much as it is the outcome!

The DLP people are using Moleskine planners, I have decided instead to use my limited edition Minnie Mouse Moleskine blank page journal

Moleskine limited edition blank page Minnie Mouse

the journal is becoming full of DLP pages

I wanted to use this Minnie Mouse journal for something good that I could keep, and this is just the project for it!

My title Page for January features washi paper from Chiyogami Designs, as well as my own doodles with my Indian Ink waterproof  pen, and Bakers twine with a cardboard embellishment from a scrapbook kit.

The title pages arent part of the Documented Life Project, but as I am not using a planner book, I wanted to differentiate between the months with title pages

Again not a task of theDLP, but something I wanted to do, is this mini index that I will be doing for each month, showing what the challenges are and which week they belong to.

Each month's pages have diferent coloured or patterned washi tape on the edges to show which month the pages belong to

January 1, 2014 - Week One - Photograph, sketch, paint or incorporate your front door.

I took a photo of our front door, using my phone. the picture is at a close up and an angle, i then printed it out, stuck it on the page, and added ephemera and some inked in details

 January 5, 2014 - Week Two - Selfie

Even though this was only the second of the challenges in DLP 2014, i did not manage to complete it until week 48.
I don't like myself much and it took me a bit of courage to paint this self portrait.

January 12, 2014 - Week Three - Add an envelope from your mailbox.

January 18, 2014 - Week Four - Write a secret message then paint over all but one key word.

A messy page of dabbed paint, ink, washi tape, nail polish ... I enjoyed doing this page, it was cathartic to do some unstructured splashing of colour on the page.

 January 25, 2014 - Week Five - Add a doodle border.

I pasted black paper into my journal and doodled scrolls and lines with pastel gel pens of different colours.

February 1, 2014 - Week Six - Open your Pinterest board and be inspired.

I chose to repeat a stylised bat for this challenge!

I sketched in watercolour paint a picture of the face of a contented sleeping kitten. when i think of the word gratitude, i get an image in my head of animals we have rescued from pounds/animal shelters, and the looks they get on their faces when they finally realise they have their 'furever' home. It sums up the emotion of gratitude for me, so that is what i painted

November 29, 2014 - Week 49 Challenge - Trace your hand

I had no inspiration for this challenge, tracing my hand did not conjure up any hint of creativity. So I did what i could to make it decorative.

my fantasy vacation is on the Enterprise NCC-1701-D, and i dont need to pack anything as the replicators can produce anything i need

December 13, 2014 - Week 51 Challenge:  Arrows

Week 51: arrows. As i always re-assess where i am at with my long term and short term goals, when a year nears its end, i thought i would use the arrows prompt as a mind map to goal success

December 20, 2014 - Week 52 Challenge: Document your family holiday tradition.

We don't do 'holidays' and we aren't ones for traditions , so I have created this page with the theme of looking back on a year whenever a year ends, and celebrating life
